Carlo Verdone with his “Benedetta Follia”, Massimo popolizio with “I'm back” by Luca Miniero and Edward Winspeare with “La vita in comune”: they are the main protagonists of the three evenings of the sixteenth edition of the Sa.Fi.Ter – Salento Finibus Terrae – International Short Film Festival hosted by Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th June Castellana caves and Castellana Grotte (Ba).

Sa.Fi.Ter. is a traveling film festival, directed by Romeo Conte, which will stop in three different Apulian cities (after Castellana, also San Severo and Peschici) until July 8th: ten days of great national and international cinema "on the road" through Puglia, with feature films and shorts from Italy, Spain, France, Iran, the United States, Great Britain, Turkey, Germany, Russia and Turkmenistan.
Sa.Fi.Ter is the only European traveling festival that travels over 300 km to bring cinema to evocative settings (by the sea, in a cave, under a starry sky), combining unique locations, food, wine, and tourism, and combining screenings with meetings with authors, directors, and actors.
All events are free to enter.
The festival is funded by the FSC – European Community, the Puglia Region, produced by AFC, Apulia Film Commission, with the patronage of the Municipality of Castellana Grotte, the Municipality of Peschici, the Province of Foggia, the Municipality of San Severo, UNICEF, the Italian Touring Club and the Nikolaos Foundation and with the partnership, for the Bari stage, of Grotte di Castellana srl.

The programme for the Castellana stage is particularly rich in events: it starts Thursday June 28, at 10 am, in the Irccs de Bellis Congress Centre in Castellana Grotte with the screening (out of competition) of Fuecu e Cirasi by Romeo Conte (2017) and the eight short films in competition in the Children World section (the best will be awarded the UNICEF Prize). In the afternoon, for the Children World section “Meetings with Cinema”, starting at 15pm, again at the Congress Centre, the public will be able to get to know some aspects of the behind the scenes, thanks to the presence of Sergio D'Offizzi (director of photography), Gianna Gissi (costume designer), Lorenzo Baraldi (set designer). Finally, at 8:30 pm, in the Grave of the Castellana caves, Carlo Verdone will present “Benedetta Follia,” her latest feature film, in which she also stars alongside actors Ilenia Pastorelli, Maria Pia Calzone, Lucrezia Lante Della Rovere, and Paola Minaccioni.
Friday 29 June, we start again at 10 am, but at the Irccs de Bellis Congress Centre, again with Carlo Verdone who will meet the public and the kids. This will be followed by the screening of the short films competing in the Human Rights Fiction section. At 15 pm, the second appointment with "Meetings with cinema" with Robert Pedicini, famous voice actor of Jim Carrey, Vincent Cassel and Rupert Everett among others. The evening continues at 21pm at Piazzale Anelli in the Castellana caves with the screening of “Sono Ritorno” by Luca Miniero with the presence of Massimo popolizioWe continue, always in Piazzale Anelli, with the White Night of Cinema (from 23pm onwards) with the screening of the short films competing in the Human Rights Documentary section.

Saturday June 30th The exhibition "The Postman, The Metaphor of Poetry" opens at 6:00 p.m. at the Franco Anelli Speleological Museum in the Castellana Caves. The sketches and drawings used to imagine the scenes and costumes for the film starring Massimo Troisi will be on display until August 5th. The curators, production designer Lorenzo Baraldi and costume designer Gianna Gissi, will be present. Visitors will be able to admire the bag used by Troisi during filming, courtesy of Rancati, the screenplay by Anna Pavignano, and two dresses inspired by Maria Grazia Cucinotta, designed by high fashion designer Eleonora Lastrucci. The exhibition will also feature photos from the film's set, taken by Angelo Frontoni and taken from the digital collection "Angelo Frontoni, the photographer of the stars" on the Mibact portal internetculturale.it.
The day will end with the screening, in Largo San Leone Magno in Castellana Grotte, at 21pm, of “La Vita In Comune” by Edward WinspeareAfter the screening there will be the usual meeting with the authors and protagonists of the film.
