The 2018 Research Gala, organized by the IRCCS “de Bellis” of Castellana Grotte, will be held in Castellana Grotte, in the Grave delle grotte di Castellana, on Friday 28 September 2018 starting at 8:30 pm, on the occasion of the European Researchers' Night.
EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS' NIGHT: THE DE BELLIS IRCCS EVENT AT THE CASTELLANA CAVES
The "Saverio de Bellis" IRCCS is participating in the European ERN Apulia project with an initiative aimed at bringing citizens closer to science, through a multisensory journey that embraces art in science and science in art, with the participation of the Puglia Region with the Apulian LifeStyle project.
On Friday 28th September the Castellana caves together with the researchers of the IRCCS “Saverio de Bellis” will welcome citizens in the Health Village, an experience of health promotion and
of a correct lifestyle. It will be possible to taste healthy foods typical of the Apulian gastronomic heritage, speak with the doctors and researchers of the IRCCS “Saverio de Bellis” and discuss
good habits related to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, learn more about the ERN Apulia project and stay in touch with all the related initiatives at a local level
.
The experience will then continue with the Research Gala inside the Grave of the Castellana Caves. In this evocative setting, the theme of art in science and science in art will continue with a concert of baroque music by the Ensamble Barocco Auditorium and maestro Pierluigi Camicia. The evocative setting will allow for a multisensory experience, where the unique setting will create a magical interplay of sounds, colors, and sensations, with the Grave magically resonating like a marvelous underground cathedral.
Following this, refreshments featuring locally sourced products, in keeping with local culinary traditions, and a healthy cooking demonstration will provide an opportunity to say goodbye in friendship.

THE NIGHT OF THE RESEARCHERS
The annual appointment with “The Researchers' Night” is renewed, the initiative promoted by the European Commission which since 2005 has involved thousands of researchers and research institutions in all
European countries. Getting closer to the world of research and interacting with researchers in Puglia is even easier this year thanks to the European project ERN-Apulia.
Funded by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska Curie actions and coordinated by the University of Salento, the project involves state universities and the main institutions
Apulian public research institutions: the University of Bari, the Polytechnic of Bari, the University of Foggia, the public research institutions CNR, INFN, ENEA, IIT, as well as the IRCCS “Saverio de Bellis” in Castellana Grotte and the MArTA Museum in Taranto.
The initiatives will take place on Friday, September 28th in Bari, Brindisi, Foggia, Lecce, Taranto and Castellana Grotte (Bari).
