The enchanting setting of the Caverna della Fonte will host the third edition of the Pachamama Tour. This is a unique event, both for the caliber of its speakers and for its extraordinary location, 70 meters underground, in the womb of Mother Earth.
Now in its third edition, “Another World for the Rights of Pachamama”, organized by Another World e ATC SottoSopra, is an ambitious project where Alberto Ruz Buenfil's international tour and Thomas Torelli's film "Another World" intertwine to bring to light the ancient belief that we are all part of a single One. Native peoples knew this concept well: Pachamama represents the ancient cult venerated by the Andean peoples of South America where Pacha (Earth) Mama (Mother) is at the center of everything. According to this vision, everything in nature appears sacred and divine.
TOUR GOAL
The 2018 Pachamama Tour will visit stops throughout Italy, Spain and Switzerland and will be supported by national media. Castellana Grotte the event of Wednesday July 25 will be divided into two parts: an institutional part, with the delivery of the Charter of Earth Rights and the Flag of Peace to the mayor Dr. Francesco De Ruvo, at the Municipality of Castellana Grotte, and an artistic and ceremonial part in the Castellana caves, With the screening of the film by Thomas Torelli, the debate and, following, a short ceremony for the Earth officiated by Alberto Ruz Buenfil and Antonio Giachetti.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The meeting at the Castellana caves will start at 19.15 hours rally at “Franco Anelli” Speleological Museum where an aperitif will be offered.
All 20 hours will start downhill in the wonderful caves of Castellana to reach the Cave of the Source which will host, with its pleasant, constant climate of 16-18 degrees, both the screening and the discussion. The approximately 12-minute journey to the location will also be an opportunity to admire the fascinating array of stalactites and stalagmites, forged by Mother Nature over more than a hundred million years. In the Caverna della Fonte, you will witness the projection of the award-winning documentary film “Pachamama – Manifesto for Mother Earth” by director Thomas Torelli, followed by a discussion led by the three speakers. The tour is also accessible to people with disabilities.
An LIS translator will be present during the evening.
Seating is limited to a maximum of 80.
The contribution for participation in the evening event is 10 euros per person (free for children under 18) which will be entirely donated to the purchase of a wheelchair to be used for visits to the Castellana karst site. and include a mini-tour of the caves, a screening, and a debate with the three speakers.

WHAT IS THE MOTHER EARTH CHARTER OF RIGHTS?
Already incorporated into the laws of Bolivia, Ecuador, and some Mexican states, it affirms the fundamental principle that THE EARTH IS A LIVING BEING, and as such, entitled to inalienable rights that must be guaranteed, protected, and defended. Why is a charter of rights needed? Because Mother Earth is a living entity and cannot and must not be exploited, just as all living beings must not be. In 1947, people promoted the Charter of Human Rights to affirm that exploitation such as the slave trade should never be repeated. Today, it is important to ratify specific laws to ban the exploitation not only of human beings, but also of the planet, animals, plants, and all other living beings who, like us, must have their rights recognized.
WHY THE TOUR IS IMPORTANT
"You treat the land as if it were bequeathed to you by your father, as if there were no one else to come after you," Native Americans say. They, however, treat it as if they had borrowed it from their children. That's the big difference. They look out for and care for future generations, while we behave as if there were no tomorrow. This is why we need criminal liability, punishable by law, for those who harm Mother Earth by causing irreparable damage and eroding her riches.
THE PLAYERS
Alberto Ruz Buenfil (Coyote Alberto), Mexican, son of archaeologist Ruz Lhuillier, renowned discoverer of the royal tomb of Pakal in Palenque. With more than forty years dedicated to the study, creation, and promotion of the Culture of Peace, he is a true pioneer, veteran, and historian of the ecovillage movement, bioregional networks, and social and spiritual change. Master of ceremonies, founder of the Caravan of Rainbows for Peace, which traveled to 17 countries in Central and South America (1996-2009), he is a writer, co-founder of the Huehuecoyotl Ecological Community in Tepoztlan, Mexico, and creator and coordinator of the Council of Guardian Visions of the Earth-Mexico (1990-2015). He is among the coordinators of the First World Forum for the Rights of Mother Earth, held in Mexico in June 2016.
Antonio Giacchetti, lawyer and expert on Mayan civilization and "cycles of time." He translated The Mayan Factor, the international bestseller by the leading international expert on the Mayan calendar, Dr. José Argüelles, Ph.D. He is one of the protagonists of the film Another World by Thomas Torelli. He is the national coordinator of the Italian PAN (Planet Art Network).
Thomas Torelli, born in Rome in 1975. After graduating, he specialized in photography, and images became his work. He has written, produced, and directed several documentaries, including Zero – Inchiesta sull'11 Settembre, distributed worldwide and in competition at the 2007 Rome Film Festival, Sangue e Cemento about the earthquake in Abruzzo (55.000 DVD copies and nominated for the Nastri d'Argento for Best Documentary), and, in 2014, Un Altro Mondo, winner of numerous festivals, acclaimed by audiences and critics, and screened at over four hundred events since its release, a film described as enlightening and which revolutionized the concept of independent distribution in Italy. In January 2017, he released Food ReLOVution, a documentary that highlights the damage caused by the food industry to the environment, humans, and animals. His latest work, “Choose Love,” is soon to be released, a documentary film focused on the power of love.
