Waiting over: Saturday August 23 departing at 21 hours (and meeting at 19pm), fourth edition of the Caves Trophy, running event organized in Castellana Grotte (Ba) by the association Castellana Free Dogs Athletics, included in the national calendar of the Fidal, Under the patronage of Municipality of Castellana Grotte and Castellana Caves srl.
The start from the Grotte Shopping Centre in Via Putignano for a real challenge in the dark The City of Caves is ready to welcome athletes and runners from all over Italy, offering them, even if only for a single run, its most evocative locations: the Sanctuary of Maria Santissima della Vetrana, the Church of San Francesco and Caroseno, but also the Villa Comunale and Viale Aldo Moro, Largo Porta Grande, and the historic center. For one night, Castellana will be illuminated as the athletes pass by, thanks also to the starlights, luminous bracelets provided by the organization to members.
Tuscany, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna, Piedmont, Lombardy, Marche, Calabria, Basilicata, and of course Puglia: nine regions will be represented by athletes from 49 clubs at the 2014 Grotte Trophy, currently in the pre-registration phase. Among those registered are two stars of the athletics elite: Monica Carlin (Italian champion in the 50 km, 100 km, uphill ultramarathon, 6 hours on the track and on the road and as many successes at international level with silver and bronze in the 100 km and gold in the team race in 2006) and Marco Boffo (among the best Italian ultra marathon specialists).
Awards ceremony and music & food event to follow All Night LongThe 2014 Grotte Trophy village set up at the Grotte Shopping Centre will come alive this year with food stands, night shopping with the extraordinary opening of shops until midnight and live music with the Differently Funk in concert.
The 2014 Grotte Trophy features two courses: 11 km for FIDAL athletes and 7 km for free runners.
