Grand opening with the Eleina D & Wonder Boys Company. Isobel Kinnear, from "Amici 2022," will be the evening's hostess.
The energy of the international dance festival “World Dance Movement”, will light up the evenings of Summer Squares 2023, from July 13th to 22nd next, in Castellana Grotte. Seven evenings dedicated to dance, for the XIII edition of a now traditional event of the Castellana summer.
After Umberto Tozzi's concert which attracted thousands of people to the city of Caves, Largo Porta Grande once again becomes the stage for Summer Squares 2023., the program of summer events and appointments, from June to September, organized and promoted by Municipality of Castellana Grotte and Grotte di Castellana srl.
Il World Dance Movement transforms the city into a global village with a cosmopolitan feel and hosts dancers, choreographers, and performers from all over the world: this year from Australia, China, the United States, Canada, Russia, Estonia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, France, Germany, South Africa, Ghana, and of course Italy, for a total of around 250 dancers and choreographers.
It starts on Thursday, July 13th at 9:00 pm with “With You Mimmo”, grand opening which sees on stage the Eleina D & Wonder Boys Company, with choreography by Vito Cassano and Fabrizio Polli respectively.
The performance of Eleina D will open the 13th edition of the WDM with 12 acrobatic dancers, including professionals and promising young talents, selected from some of the most prestigious training centers in Italy, accompanied live by 10 Japanese drum musicians from "Quelli del Taiko".The choreographies are entrusted to Vito Cassano who began his career as a solo dancer of the Mvula Sungani Company, participating in numerous tours in Italy, France, and Germany. The artistic encounter with Claudia Cavalli gave birth to the company Eleina D which in just a few years has become a national reference point for aerial and contemporary dance. The prestigious partnership with theKataklò Academy of Milan and many international partnerships, most recently Phobos in co-production with the Ballet National de Marseille.
Following the show “Wonder Boys” of the choreographer Fabrizio Prolli. A Pop show, with 9 young performers with strong and distinct personalitiesThe protagonist of the show is FREEDOM. Bringing a POP dance show to a wide audience is the aim of the Prolli whose professional background includes collaborations with the highest levels of pop theater, music, and television. A professional dancer, he boasts authoritative participation in top-notch programs such as "Friends of Maria De Filippi" and Wind Music Awards at the Verona Arena. Since 2022, he has been choreographer, alongside Luca Tommasini, of the lively event-show “LONG LIVE RAI2!” Led by Fiorello. Today, he is head of the Modern Department at Italy's largest Academy of Arts and Entertainment: L'Art Village in Rome, directed by Maestro Luciano Cannito.
The godmother of the evening will be Isobel Kinnear, a young Australian dancer, very popular on social media, second place in the dance category and winner of the Tim award at Amici in 2022.
After the opening night, the audience of the “World Dance Movement” will be able to attend other 6 appointments: first of all the two Galas scheduled for Friday 14th and Friday 21st July (always in Largo Porta Grande and always at 21pm), then the international competitions like the aerial dance one on the calendar Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July, the dance theatre show by Nando and Maila “Sconcerto d'amore” on 19th July, and the grand finale with the show “Hooked” choreographed by Elias Lazaridis, Greek dancer and choreographer with a brilliant career of international prestige, scheduled for Saturday, July 22, 2023.
