WINTER STILLS: THE CHRISTMAS CALENDAR OF EVENTS IN THE CASTELLANA CAVES
Le Castellana Caves (Ba) are preparing to experience the magic of the festive period by immersing themselves in the typical Christmas atmosphere and announcing Winter Drops, a packed calendar of events that will complement the usual tours. The official kickoff is scheduled for the weekend of December 4th and 5th, 2021, with the previously announced performances of "Hell in the Cave." Concerts, shows, events, and initiatives will continue until January 8th.
Three concerts will take place in the evocative setting of the Grave cave. The first one, Thursday 9 December at 20:30 pm, is Tosca with Morabeza, the title of the new tour with which the artist pays homage to his successful latest album of the same name, for which he won two Tenco Awards in 2020 (best performer of songs and best song with "Ho amato tutto"). This will be followed by dates with Chiara Civello who will present Chansons, album of classical pieces from 1945 to 1975 by French authors, Monday 20 December at 8.30 pm and with Peppe Servillo & Solis String Quartet in Carosonamente, inspired by the new album dedicated to Renato Carosone, Wednesday 22 December at 20:30 pm.
In addition to live music, the Castellana Caves' Christmas events calendar will also feature performances and cultural initiatives. Among the nine performances: Hell in the Cave, including reruns (4, 5, 12 and 19 December 2021, 8 January 2022) and shows with special guests (Massimo Venturiello on 23 December, live music by maestro Paolo Pace on 29 December, Ettore Bassi on 30 December and Vito Signorile on 6 January), another special appointment with Dante's work will be added on Friday 10 December at 20:00 pm: Hell in the Cave's Dante Jukebox, An unusual reading of the Divine Comedy, an unconventional way to approach Dante's wonderful journey, with the help of a profound expert on Dante's work, Professor Federico Canaccini, who will respond directly to the audience's suggestions before the start and during the show, and Roberto Abbiati, whose hand will create the illustrations inspired by the sensation of the moment.
Another event scheduled for December 18th at 8.30pm is Giacomo Medici and Sarita Schena with Tango a dos voces – Notes and verses of a music that has enchanted the world, a show that will be a true journey between music and dance, starting with the tango of the first half of the 900th century, and then paying homage to the artists who have marked the history of the musical genre destined to enchant the world.
On 26, 27, 28 December and 2 January from 5.30 pm the caves of the Castellana Caves will host the Living Nativity, re-enactment of the nativity and the most representative figures of the nativity scene in an evocative journey among the concretions of the caves. While on December 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 and January 2 and 6 from 18:00 pm it will be possible to attend the Cave Mapping, spectacular multimedia show projected onto the elevator tower.
