The calendar of events for the holiday season continues in the Grave cave
It's now in full swing Winter Drops, calendar of events during the Christmas period in Castellana Caves (Ba). After the intense weekend already passed, there are 5 events scheduled from Saturday 18th to Thursday 23rd December 2021, which will take place in the Grave cave. The event will begin on the 18th with Giacomo Medici and Sarita Schena with “Tango a dos voces”, the 19th new appointment with the show Hell in the Cave, on the 20th and 22nd two more concerts, the first of Chiara Civello with “Chansons” and the second of Peppe Servillo and Solis String Quartet, while on the 23rd it will be the turn of a special version of Hell in the Cave with the participation of Massimo Venturiello.
GIACOMO MEDICI AND SARITA SCHENA WITH “TANGO A DOS VOCES”
On Saturday, December 18th, at 900:30 PM, the Castellana Caves will host "Tango a dos voces – Notes and Verses of a Music That Bewitched the World," a show featuring internationally renowned tango and opera singers Sarita Schena and Giacomo Medici. The concert will be a journey from the tango of the first half of the 20th century to pay homage to the artists who shaped the history of this musical genre, destined to bewitch the world. Among them is Carlos Gardel, a tango icon whose voice was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003. Special attention will be given to the inventor of "tango nuevo," the great Astor Piazzolla, an artist whose roots lie in Puglia and whose 100th birthday is being celebrated. It will also be an opportunity to remember those Italian artists, from Enrico Caruso to Domenico Modugno, who had profound ties with the Argentine public and whose melodies have entered the collective imagination.
Accompanying the Italian-Argentine artist Sarita Schena, considered among the most interesting voices of his generation, and Giacomo Medici, a baritone also known in Argentina as "the Italian who sings tango", will be two internationally renowned musicians such as Massimiliano Pitocco to the bandoneon (already a collaborator of the singer Milva, Astor Piazzolla's muse) and Massimiliano Caporale on the piano.
The concert will be enriched by the performances of the dancers and teachers Alessandro Esposto e Sara Porfiri, former European tango champions. The guitarist will take part in the performance as a guest artist. Giuseppe De Trizio.
The event, given its unique characteristics, will also be supported by some of the main organizations representing Italians abroad and Argentina, including the General Council of Italians Abroad and the Committees of Italians Resident Abroad. Other participating organizations include: the Federation of Italian Associations of Mar del Plata (the latter being Astor Piazzolla's birthplace), the Apulian Center of Bahia Blanca, the Apulian Center of Mar del Plata, the Marche Center of Bahia Blanca, the Association of the Marche Family of Rosario, the Marche Circle of La Plata, the Federation of the Marche of the Argentine Republic, and the Federation of the Marche of the Central Coast. Media partners also include Radio CNN Rosario and the program "Voice on the Radio, from Italy to Argentina."

CHIARA CIVELLO WITH CHANSONS
Monday, December 20th at 20:30 PM Chiara Civello will present "Chansons" in the Grave cave. The artist returns to work with the producer Marc Collin for her new project "Chansons: Chiara Civello Sings International French Standards." A tracklist of 12 classic songs from 1945 to 1975 by French composers: from Michel Legrand to Charles Aznavour, Charles Trénet, Édith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Gilbert Bécaud, and Francis Lai. Names familiar to French music lovers, but not necessarily to international audiences. And that's the great surprise of this album. These songs have crossed borders for over 70 years without any reference to their French heritage. With this collection, they move from shadow to light. Who would have imagined that Feelings, The Good Life, and My Way were all written by French composers? And that Frank Sinatra, Julio Inglesias, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Luciano Pavarotti, Céline Dion, Dalida, and Caetano Veloso have recorded these masterpieces, making them the international soundtrack of our lives?
Chiara Civello's voice is intimate, often baring her soul. The production is pure, with Marc Collin's touch: a touch retro, with a variety of styles ranging from piano bar, in the noblest sense of the word (I Will Wait For You, My Way, The Good Life), swing (Petite Fleur), Cuban rhythms (Feelings), drums and beats with vocal and piano improvisations (La Vie en Rose), soul (What Now My Love), and even blaxploitation (Hier Encore).

PEPPE SERVILLO AND SOLIS STRING QUARTET
Live music will once again be the protagonist in the Castellana Caves on Wednesday 22 December at 8.30pm with Peppe Servillo and Solis String QuartetFive years after the release of “Presentimento,” an album in which they respectfully addressed masterpieces of classic Neapolitan song, Peppe Servillo & Solis String Quartet is releasing a new album, this time dedicated to a single composer: Renato Carosone.
"Is it possible to borrow the light-hearted, carefree air of a profound and romantic author like Renato Carosone? Perhaps it's useful and necessary now more than ever, not out of recklessness but out of love for the colorful, ironic, and dispassionate life he sang and interpreted in the postwar period. In addition to the famous titles, we will offer lesser-known songs that tell us about a "different" Carosone, always vital even in his love stories. As usual, in the understated and elegant version of the Solis, we hope to showcase the voice of a singular Italian author." (Peppe Servillo)

HELL IN THE CAVE SPECIAL GUEST MASSIMO VENTURIELLO
Double pre-Christmas appointment with Hell in the CaveSunday, December 19th at 18:30 PM, there will be a new performance of the show, a free performance of the first canticle of the Divine Comedy set in the Caverna della Grave. Thursday, December 23rd at 21:00 PM, the first performance will feature a special guest. The first special guest of Hell in the Castellana Caves will be Massimo Venturiello, actor, theater director, and voice actor, who will recite some verses from the opera. A long and multifaceted career has seen him as an actor in theater, film, and numerous TV series, as well as a director and voice actor for highly successful films and actors. On this occasion, he will lend his voice to Hell in the Cave, a show that combines dance, voices, sounds, and lights, capable of embracing the entire natural environment of the largest cave in the Castellana Caves as a stage space. Hell in the Cave was born from a fascination and a great love for the language and the work of Dante, and is directed by Enrico Romita and the dramaturgy of Giusy FrallonardoOn stage, for each performance, actors, performers, and dancers offer the audience a thrilling performance, while the evocative power of Dante's verses blends with a unique natural setting. The chosen cantos are among the most famous, featuring characters such as Lucifer, Minos, Pier delle Vigne, Ciacco, Paolo and Francesca, Count Ugolino, Brunetto Latini, Ulysses, and Beatrice.
