The great Castellana summer opens on June 21st at 8:30 pm with the writer Stefano Benni at the Castellana Caves.
This marks the beginning of the series of events organized by Libro Possibile and organized in collaboration with the Castellana Caves for the 13th edition of the festival, which will be held from July 9th to 12th in Polignano a Mare. A new section entitled "Episodes" will include three extra-curricular events held in the splendid setting of the Castellana Caves.
The popular and beloved writer, author of numerous novels, plays, short stories, articles, and writings, as well as an actor, director, and screenwriter, will present his latest book, "Pantera," published by Feltrinelli and illustrated by Luca Ralli, against the stunning backdrop of the Grave nelle Grotte di Castellana.
The book
The Academy of the Three Princes is a billiards hall. It's a dungeon, a fabulous cavern, where, under the blind gaze of the wise Borges, legendary players like Stink, Elvis, Tremal-Naik, the Mummy, the Professor, and Tamarind exchange cues. Ashtrays are emptied and battles are kept track. One day, Pantera enters that all-male world, "slender, lithe, pale," and the legend transcends boundaries. When the best fall, as in a chivalric poem, champions begin to arrive from afar. Leaving her tale, Pantera passes the baton to Aixi, a young girl in love with her sea, the protagonist of a new challenge bathed in light and mystery.
