The initiatives for the festive period continue in the Castellana CavesThe appointment with the is renewed again this year Living Nativity inside the caves, a unique representation of its kind at 70 meters deep.
There are six opportunities to relive the Nativity and a meticulously reconstructed Bethlehem amidst caves, stalactites, and stalagmites, along a roughly one-kilometer trail with over 100 participants in period costume. The first two events are scheduled for December 28 and 29, 2022, opening from 18:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with group entrances every 15 minutes. After a brief hiatus for the end of the year, the Living Nativity Scene will return, with the same schedule, in January 2023 on the 4th, 5th, 7th, and 20th, with four more opportunities to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of times gone by on a journey through symbols of faith, history, and tradition. From the Caverna della Grave, the first and largest of the underground karst complex, the trail will lead you on a subterranean journey through ancient crafts, iconic figures, and iconic locations, culminating in the sacred representation featuring Saint Joseph, the Madonna, and Baby Jesus.
The Living Nativity Scene is promoted by theUNPLI Puglia APS and Pro Loco Castellana Grotte “Don Nicola Pellegrino” with the Castellana Caves srl and Municipality of Castellana Grotte, edited by the director Lucio Giordano and the set designer Rafox, and is included in the program Winter Squares, a series of winter events organized by the Municipality of Castellana and the Castellana Caves, scheduled until January 23, 2023, in Castellana Grotte (Bari).
