One of the most important spontaneous creative mobilisations of recent times, capable of involving an entire country and saving one of the most prestigious brands of Made in Italy, becomes an exhibition and reaches the Castellana Caves (Ba). The exhibition of 160 illustrations will be open to visitors from October 27th to November 10th at the “Franco Anelli” Speleological Museum. “Save Borsalino”.
From one drawing to 160 works. And now they can all be seen in one place. A wave that has involved and overwhelmed everyone, from New York to Rome, from Iran to the Netherlands, passing through Milan, Venice, Florence, Puglia, Sicily, and Sardinia. Illustrations, watercolors, and sketches have been created from all over Italy and even much of the world to ensure that the employees of the world's most famous hat company, the Borsalino, hit by the economic crisis.
Has been Richard Guasco – a well-known and appreciated artist from Alessandria – starting with a drawing that went viral on the web and triggered a creative mobilization, thanks to the hashtag #saveBorsalino, relaunched by The print Together with the workers in the courtyard of the Spinetta factory, where hats are still handcrafted, one by one, with dozens of identical steps and meticulous attention to detail.
The creative mobilization has always had the same purpose: to keep the Borsalino factory and its employees on high alert after the bankruptcy filing. The intent was to demonstrate that Made in Italy must remain in Italy. And specifically in Alessandria, where Borsalino hats have been made for 160 years. Coincidentally, 160 works were also received. And it seemed like a fitting way to celebrate such an important anniversary.
The mobilization quickly became an exhibition: first in Alessandria, then in Taormina, and now in Puglia. A way to transform the virtual embrace of the Borsalino workers into a real, real embrace. In person. As mentioned, 160 works were submitted to La Stampa during the creative mobilization. They are incredibly diverse: people, animals, and "things" wearing hats, headdresses that become something else, Borsalinos conceived in the abstract. The illustrators represent all of Italy and parts of Europe, with some contributions from Iran and America as well.
SAVE BORSALINO AT THE CASTELLANA CAVES
The inauguration of the Save Borsalino exhibition at the Franco Anelli Speleological Museum, near the Castellana caves, is scheduled Saturday October 27 19 hoursThe works will be open to visitors until November 10th.
