These are the numbers of the Castellana summer that with Summer Squares 2023, the calendar of events Organized by the Municipality of Castellana Grotte and the Castellana Grotte Society, forcefully enters into the best regional proposals. A calendar that satisfies all tastes and all ages, until the end of September, to best experience the city's most evocative squares and places.
From concerts to open-air cinema, from theater to dance, through food and wine and religious traditions, festivals, sports, and philosophy. A 360-degree promotion of the region, a journey through time and space, which during the summer weeks—starting from the Castellana Caves—will move through the streets, squares, and public spaces of the city. All this contributes to creating a common thread linking the wonder of the karst complex, one of the most famous tourist attractions in Puglia and Italy, to the urban beauties of the Castellana area. Tourists will thus discover the city by traveling to its most popular social hubs and most important itineraries.
Castellana Grotte's summer program will feature big names from the worlds of music, film, and culture: Umberto Tozzi in the “Gloria forever tour” on July 2nd, Mario Biondi in “Crooning soon” on July 26th, Ron and Antonella Ruggiero on August 9th and 16th respectively; the excellent interviewees of “FestivArts” Diego Fusaro on August 4th, Ornella Muti on August 7th, Francesco Paolantoni on August 8th and Katia Ricciarelli on August 13th; and still the guests of “Borgo Rosato” Samuel Dj set from Subsonica on August 17th, Marina Rei on August 18th and Cristiano Godano on August 19th. And then the author's music of “Tieni il Tempo” on August 24th and 25th and the “San Leo Music Fest”
next August 26th and 27th, and “Abbatissae – Women, Power and Other Stories”, itinerant historical reenactment on the phenomenon of the Monstrum Apuliae in the historic center August 17, 18 and 19.
The dance returns to be the protagonist in the Castellana summer thanks to the “World Dance
Movement” and 13 from July to 22 will bring to the city of Caves some of the most talented dancers
world renowned, thanks to the “Dance Festival” on July 19th and 20th and the appointments of
“Come dance in the villa”, dance evenings (every Tuesday) and live music (every Thursday).
Cinema, theatre and contemporary art with “Educating the gaze” on 27 June, 4 and
on July 11th, “Piccola ribalta” on July 23rd, the “Theatre Festival” from August 28th to 31st and the
“Contempo Festival Preview” from August 24th to 27th.
To the children the three days of "Children's Party" June 23, 24, and 25 e
