PassionchrisT returns to the Castellana Caves on March 28, 2015
Invisible executioners, executioners who operate in secrecy, executioners who derive pleasure from executions broadcast worldwide. In any form, the death one voluntarily chooses to use to punish "the other" brings only suffering and obliterates the distinction between the guilty and the innocent. The nations where human rights are trampled are those with the highest death sentences: China, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia.
To tell a very human passion and to denounce the horror that lies behind the obscure execution and the silent condemnation that is still perpetuated in many countries, will be “PassionchrisT – Portrait of a Story”, the reenactment of the Passion of Christ performed by Wanted Chorus in a double staging on Saturday 28 March (at 20.00 pm and 21.30 pm) in the Grave of the Castellana Caves.
"The very high numbers of the last edition have happily pushed us to confirm the double descent on the evening of Saturday 28 March, the eve of Palm Sunday, in an atmosphere of religious expectation” – commented Vincenzo Schettini, director of the show – All the passions that take place on the earth's soil do not tell the message that our passion in the depths of the earth wants to unravel.".
Le Castellana Caves They become an integral part of the show, a symbolic space that gathers passion and pain, just days before Easter and on the eve of a significant date like Palm Sunday. The result is a show that transports spectators to a space with indefinite temporal coordinates, making all the pain contained in Christ's sacrifice finite and perceptible, and bringing to light all the questions that see us as complicit and observers of human wickedness.
The unique appointment of PassionchrisT, produced by Wanted Chorus, directed by Vincenzo SchettiniIn partnership with Castellana Caves Srl, is sponsored by the Municipality of Castellana Grotte, From Puglia region and Metropolitan City of Bari and sponsored by Cooperative Credit Bank of Castellana Grotte.
Both performances will be performed in the Grave cavern. To access the underground complex, reservations are required for one of the two performances, and tickets are valid for the booked performance only. Click here to book.
