CAVE PARK, MAINTENANCE AND NEW TOURIST SIGNAGE
Castellana Grotte, September 12, 2017 – During Marica Pace's three and a half months as president of the Castellana Caves, cleaning and maintenance work on the karst trail and the restoration of the outdoor area of the Cave Park were initiated. President Pace, from the moment she took office, had identified these as priorities for her administration, so much so that she immediately began the necessary work to make the Caves an increasingly efficient and pleasant visitor destination.
The Grotte di Castellana company has carried out cleaning and ordinary maintenance of the entire karst path starting from the access stairs and the non-slip mats subject to normal wear and tear over time will also be replaced shortly.
The outdoor area of the Cave Park has undergone significant renovations in recent months. The area has been made more functional for visitors, starting with the cleaning and maintenance of the parking lots. Furthermore, the tourist signage has been replaced to provide modern and efficient guidance for visitors from the parking lots to the ticket office, also indicating other points of interest: the Franco Anelli Speleological Museum, the Sirio Astronomical Observatory, offices, and services. A new tourist information point has also been installed and set up in the center of the Cave Park. Signage with instructions in Italian and English has been added to meet the needs of an increasingly large international audience. Furthermore, new planters have been installed and the flowerbeds in the Cave Park have been redesigned, helping to make Castellana's green lung a pleasant place to stop and rest.

Other major projects are planned for the coming months, including installing new awnings near the ticket office, replacing the benches, pruning trees, and redeveloping the former sports facilities.
