After the positive feedback of the summer now behind us, the Castellana Caves (Ba) are preparing to face the autumn season with a view to deseasonalizing tourism. The karst site, one of Puglia's main paid attractions, is ready to continue welcoming visitors safely, as it has done for the past three months, with a new visiting calendar and the double event Speleonight and Hell in the Cave.
Until Sunday, November 1st, tourists will be able to visit the caves, accompanied by guides, every day at the following times: full tour (an itinerary of approximately 3 kilometers leading to the White Cave and lasting 100 minutes) in Italian at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:00, and 16:00; full tour in English at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, and 16:00; partial tour (an itinerary of approximately 1 kilometer that takes 50 minutes) in Italian at 11:30, 13:00, 14:30, and 17:00. Tickets for the tours can be purchased directly at the Castellana Caves ticket office, but as always it is possible to book visits for groups of at least 20 people in Italian, English and also in German and French (all information by calling 080.4998221 or writing to segreteria@grottedicastellana.it). During the visit it will also be possible to use the application “Castellana Caves – Guide in Italian, English, and LIS”, a guide containing audio in Italian, English and videos in LIS and which can be used offline on your mobile device by following the instructions installed along the route.
Furthermore, in October, visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in two events with Speleonight, An exclusive tour of the caves, partially in the dark, with only helmet lights, reveals a different side of the karst site, led by speleologists from the Puglia Grotte Group. Two scheduled events are planned: Sunday 18th and Sunday 25th October (Meeting at 7:30 PM, departure at 8:00 PM). Finally, two events are scheduled for October with Hell in the CaveThe gates of Hell will open to welcome spectators into the Grave cave. Saturday 10th and Saturday 31st October (Box office at 8:15 PM, show starts at 9:00 PM). A combined ticket (show + cave tour) is also available at a special price. During both Hell in the Cave events, a full tour in Italian is also scheduled at 6:00 PM.
