The appointments are back with Sirio, the Castellana Caves Astronomical Observatory.
On Saturday, July 8th, everyone will be looking up to observe Saturn, the most spectacular planet in the Solar System.
"Eyes on Saturn" is a public event, with free admission, during which Professor Nicola Rizzi will lead those present in observing the sky, illustrating other scientific aspects such as the orientation and recognition of the main stars visible in the summer period.
We will also talk about the last orbits of the Cassini probe, which will conclude its long mission (begun in 2004) in September by diving into the planet's atmosphere. And while the probe's spectacular images can be searched online, breathtaking observations will also be possible from Earth. After its opposition on June 15th, the planet is now in optimal conditions for telescope viewing.
The initiative is part of a project spread throughout Italy thanks to the collaboration of amateur astronomers' associations, astronomical observatories, and planetariums.
See you on Saturday 8th July on the terrace of the Rings Museum, in the Castellana Caves area, where observation and multimedia stations will be set up.
