Sunday 18th December at 20:00 pm in the Castellana Caves will be Job Covatta the protagonist of the first of three appointments of Christmas in the Caves 2022, calendar designed for the Christmas holidays which fits into the context of Winter Squares, the extensive program of events in Castellana Grotte (Ba) scheduled from 7 December 2022 to 23 January 2023 and organized by Municipality of Castellana Grotte and the Castellana Caves srl.
In the evocative natural setting of the Caverna della Grave, without neglecting music, Covatta will entertain on stage in keeping with his signature style, where irony and satire intertwine at times with science and at other times with the Charter of Children's Rights. As often happens, he will playfully provoke reflection on the paradoxes of poverty and hunger in abandoned children, leaving the audience with more than a few bitter but true reflections, food for thought. Old favorites and unreleased songs will feature, including musical tributes to Gaber, Banda Bardò, and George Moustaki.
Also on stage Ugo Gangheri (on the ropes), Giosy Cincotti (accordion and piano) and Ernesto Nobili (guitar).
Tickets for the show are available on the circuit TicketOne like those of the two subsequent Christmas in the Caves events: Wednesday 21 December at 9.00 pm with "Giuliano Sangiorgi sings the Stars" and Thursday 22 December at 9pm with “Piano in Midair”, surprising aerial performance by Bruno Montrone on the piano.
Christmas in the Caves is organized by Grotte di Castellana with the patronage of the Municipality of Castellana Grotte, a project carried out in collaboration with Pugliapromozione WeAreinPuglia, the Regional Tourism Agency, and Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, using FSC 2014/2020 FUNDS PACT FOR PUGLIA “STRATEGIC TOURISM PLAN PUGLIA365 COMMUNICATION AND ENHANCEMENT OF THE DESTINATION AND THE TOURISM PRODUCT”.
Furthermore, after the inauguration on December 7th and the first scheduled events, the events of Piazze d'Inverno, the programme of winter events organised and promoted by the Municipality of Castellana Grotte and Grotte di Castellana srl, continue in the city centre of Castellana Grotte: the very central Piazza Garibaldi is still the protagonist, with the Christmas decorations, the food and wine stands and the small craft markets and will host on Friday December 16th at 9.00 pm the Modena City Ramblers. Engaged in a special winter club tour, the band will also continue the celebrations for "Appunti Partigiani", the 2005 gold record and an important milestone in their rich recording career, in the square in Castellana Grotte. Also in Piazza Garibaldi on Saturday 17 December at 21:00 pm, the band will perform: Nina's Quartet and Sunday 18 December at 21:00 pm W.
Furthermore, on Saturday 17 December, Piazza Nicola e Costa and the Town Hall will host the celebratory events for theAnniversary of the Foundation of CastellanaAt 17 pm, a Christmas concert, filled with sounds and traditions, presented by the Castellana Grotte Band Association in Piazza Nicola e Costa. At 18 pm, a conference on the history of Castellana will take place in the Sala Giunta of the Town Hall.
