On Friday 3 June, on the occasion of other institutional commitments in Puglia, the Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia visited the Castellana CavesHis was a short guided tour of the karst site, to admire the suggestive scenery of the caves, the concretions with surprising shapes and colors that characterize it, accompanied by the guide Sergio Carpinelli.
The Minister was welcomed by the president of the board of directors of the Castellana Caves Francesco Manghisi, the vice president Margherita Costante, the councillor Monica Di Monte, and the doctor Giulia Monaco, executive officer.
“It was an honor for us to host Tourism Minister Garavaglia and show him our wonderful karst site. – commented President Manghisi on behalf of the entire Board of Directors – This year too, the Castellana Caves are confirming their position as one of Puglia's main tourist attractions. Puglia has already been welcoming significant influxes of tourists from all over the world for several weeks now and is now ready to experience a summer of great attention and tourism concentration.
During the short tour of the Caves, Minister Garavaglia was also able to attend a performance by the actress Giusy Frallonardo, accompanied by the violin of Marilisa Camicia, who recited some verses from Dante's Inferno, which inspired him Hell in the Cave, a permanent show at the Castellana Caves, which has been on stage for eleven years in the Grave cavern with performances throughout the year.
