The Japanese crew returned to the karst site of Castellana
Castellana Grotte, April 10, 2017 – The Castellana Caves continue to fascinate the Japanese people, thanks in part to the many Japanese TV stations that have recently visited the Castellana karst site to capture its history, anecdotes, and broadcast its sensational images.
Yesterday, April 9th, a delegation from TV Asahi Corporation was welcomed by Vincenzo Montaruli, vice president of the Castellana Caves, and artistic director Pino Savino, before diving among ancient stalactites and stalagmites. Over four hours of footage, from the Grave to the White Cave, will be edited by director Takao Ichiba and broadcast by the end of May on the renowned national television network and streamed live. The crew also included Kataoka Masanori, a well-known reporter in Japan, who interviewed speleologist Sergio Carpinelli. At the end of filming, he expressed his admiration and amazement at the truly unique experience he had in the cave.
"We were very pleased to welcome these Japanese journalists, with whom we had already had dealings in the past, thanks also to the visibility gained during the international fairs in which the Caves participate, and in particular the recent ITB exhibition in Berlin. – declares the vice president of the Cave Society, Vincenzo Montaruli – We can affirm that tourism from the Land of the Rising Sun is constantly growing and for this reason we have considered it useful to produce new information material for our visitors, also in Japanese.".
