Six new dates on the calendar for the special visit Speleonight and the activation of the new audio guide in Italian and English. Thus the Castellana Caves (Ba) they are preparing to welcome the month of August which is now upon us.
After the success of the first two events in July, Speleonight is back by popular demand with two more events this month and four in August. Friday is the evening chosen for the exclusive visit to the caves led by speleologists from the Puglia Caves Group, which allows you to relive the sensations of the first explorers, a nocturnal experience that reveals a different side of the karst site. The outward journey takes place in the dark, with only the lights on the helmets, in an intense silence where the patter of the water drops is amplified and the concretions are revealed in unique detail. Two highlights: the desert corridor traversed alone, a unique experience in the underground world, and the switching on of the lights in the White Cave, marking the illuminated return journey. Furthermore, the daily visits to the Castellana Caves continue without stopping (long itinerary in Italian at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00, in English at 10:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 17:00 and partial itinerary in Italian at 10:30, 11:30, 13:00, 14:30, 15:30 and 18:00) and for a few days, to have further support during the guided tour, it is possible to download from the App Store or Google Play the “Video audio guide in Italian, English, and LIS”, a free app that's easy to install on a variety of devices, with audio in Italian and English, and videos in Italian Sign Language (LIS). This useful tool doesn't replace the expert guides of the Castellana Caves, but rather enhances the visit with descriptions of the various spaces. The app works offline and can be used on any personal device using your own headphones and following the dedicated signage along the tour route.
