Now closed to the public since Sunday 8 March, the Castellana Caves They are preparing day after day to welcome tourists again and therefore to reopen with maximum safety, aiming to preserve the health of visitors and workers, as soon as possible, thanks to the constant and meticulous work of the administrators, the technical-scientific committee, and staff.
We intend to seize every opportunity to reopen to the public, with all the necessary requirements. says the president Victor Casulli (member of the Board of Directors of Grotte di Castellana srl together with the vice-president Francesco Manghisi and to the councillor Maria Lacasella) While we await an official date, we are preparing and reorganizing to welcome visitors with maximum safety. Therefore, all stakeholders are working together today to establish a new protocol and define new reopening procedures. These will promote a continuous and controlled flow of visitors, avoiding large gatherings, and implementing preventive measures such as the distribution of gloves, masks, and protective equipment for both visitors and all workers, as well as the temperature checks of all those entering the karst site. Furthermore, to ensure social distancing, thus avoiding large groups, but still allowing tourists to fully enjoy the beauty of the caves, discovering their hidden corners and curiosities, we are considering making an audio guide of the underground route available. This will be implemented through the implementation of the video guide in Italian Sign Language presented last February at the BIT in Milan, an app that can be installed and used directly on visitors' personal smartphones. The audio guide will presumably be available within a few weeks and will complement the invaluable and indispensable support of guides and companions. All this while hoping to have official news about the restart as soon as possible."
