After last year's success, the Entertainment Department of the Municipality of Castellana Grotte, as part of the program of events for the 2014 summer season, "Bianca - Your summer in the city of caves”, is re-proposing “Bianca’s Dinner”, enriching the convivial flashmob formula with many new features.
Among all, the tasting of Apulian wines.Between white, red and rosé” is, in fact, a reference to the colours and types of Apulian vines.
We are in Puglia, home to fine white and red wines such as Negramaro and Primitivo, which, along with other fine wines, are exported worldwide as synonymous with taste and enjoyment. The role of wine as a cultural symbol has evolved over time, from an important source of nourishment to a cultural complement to food and conviviality, compatible with a healthy lifestyle.
To pay homage to the wines and its colours, there will be two Bianca dinners, named after the programme of summer events: “Rosso's dinner” which will be held Friday 18 July at 20.30 in Largo San Leone Magno and “Bianco's dinner” which will be held on Saturday August 2rd at 20.30pm in Corso Italia in Castellana Grotte.
The “red dinner” on July 18th requires men to wear white with a red accessory and women to wear red with a white accessory.
The “white dinner” on August 2nd requires men and women to dress in white.
Two dinners for the two most representative colors of Apulian wine—white, red, and rosé—will alternate between moments of conviviality and learning about taste and proper wine and food pairings.
It will be a way to meet together on the street, in one of the most charming corners of our city and experience the values of friendship at the table, recreating, in a convivial style, the typical atmosphere of an unconventional dinner, a sort of elegant picnic, where participants, whether couples or groups, will set the table with food and drinks (water only) brought from home.
The rules to be respected will always be the same: elegance, ethics, education and aesthetics.
This year, too, the Castellana Grotte administration will provide diners with tables, chairs, tablecloths, plates, glasses, and cutlery, all strictly matching the color of the wine being celebrated.
As with a traditional picnic, participants will be required to prepare enough food for themselves and the group of friends they will be sharing the dinner with, always ensuring that the food pairs well with the grape variety being promoted during the dinner.
The locations designated for dinners will be transformed into an open-air dining room set up by the diners themselves.
