Lo study on the karst environment, with its challenges and the precious, ancient resources it generously offers, is constantly evolving; just as the need to safeguard such fragile and unique places is growing and increasingly evident.
The laboratory “GeoTour” will be a medium through which the phenomenon underground ed epigeal which regulate the phenomenon "'karst'” offering itself as a perfect introduction to the tourist visit to the cave.
The contact (not only visual) with different types of rocks, the experiments, the vision of The fauna hypogeum and calcareous concretions varied and from different origins, will stimulate the learning of phenomenon biological, processes e physical so far from our daily lives that they seem almost “impossible”.
Subsequently, it will be possible to carry out the experiential visit inshort itinerary with a guide who will draw on the educational experience to illustrate the beauty of the karst site.
Objectives
- Stimulate interest in the karst phenomenon and the wonders of the underground
- Teaching the recognition of different types of rocks
- Develop deductive and analytical skills
- Stimulate the recognition of a specific geological environment
- Teaching animal evolution in limiting environments
- Educate participants to respect the underground and epigeal environment
METHOD
Method Interactive This is achieved through direct contact with rock types (intrusive/effusive magmatic, sedimentary, metamorphic) and numerous minerals. The chemical/physical characteristics of the various rocks and their transformations will be illustrated.
Students will have the opportunity to "touch" a large number of "speleothems" (calcareous concretions found in caves) and to understand their genesis and profound physical differences by experimenting with the dissolution of calcium carbonate using laboratory materials.
Further experiments will help us to understand the fundamental properties of water and the genesis of most calcareous concretions and of both underground and underground environments.

LEARNING UNDERGROUND

An opportunity to learning in the underground which will lead participants to admire one wonderful sceneryThe itinerary is 1 km long and lasts about 50 minutes, starts from the Grave, reaches the Caverna del Precipizio and ends again in the Grave, the first and only cave communicating with the outside.

A ONE-OF-A-KIND EXPERIENCE

A teaching experience one of a kind, 70 meters deep, through a visit lasting approx 100 minutes participants will travel a complete itinerary up to to achieve a spectacle that has no equal elsewhere, the White Cave an alabaster treasure chest that has led to this cave being defined as the “most splendid in the world”.
