A visit to the Castellana Caves is an extraordinary underground experience, surrounded by stalactites, stalagmites, fossils and awe-inspiring caves.

The Castellana Caves are open all year round.
For visiting hours, which vary from season to season, we recommend consulting the calendar.

For the excursion it is therefore recommended to wear clothing suitable for the underground temperature and trainers or shoes with flat rubber soles.

The complete visit of the Castellana Caves starts from the Grave, the first and largest cavern in the underground system, the only one naturally connected to the outside: 100 metres long, 50 metres wide, and 60 meters deep.
It is characterised by the presence, on the ground, of numerous stalagmites among which a majestic group in the centre stands out in the centre called “The Cyclopes
The visit of the Caves continues through corridors and other rooms, which vary greatly in shape and size.
Stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, column, precious crystals line the entire route. The names of the various environments crossed, inspired by the distinctive shapes formed by the rock, are the fruit of the imagination of the first explorers.
We encounter the myth of Roman she-wolf, several Monuments, theOwl, the devoutly kneeling Madonna, the Snake Altar,Precipitzio,Desert Corridor, the Upside-down Column (Tower of Pisa), theRed Corridor, TheDome.
The magnificence knows no bounds, and every section captivates the mind and enchants the eye until one reaches the speechless wonder of the final highlight: the most beautiful cave in the underground system, the White Cave, described as the ‘most resplendent in the world’ due to the richness and whiteness.

The partial tour of the Caves begins at La Grave, the first and largest cavern, the only one that allows visitors to look up and catch a glimpse of the Apulian sky.
The route continues into the Caves through walkways of timeless charm.
Karst formations of the most bizarre shapes give rise to real myths:
