The Short Film Festival stops at the Castellana Caves
Castellana Grotte, July 23, 2015 – The unique and breathtaking setting of the Caverna della Grave has once again added extraordinary value to another event strongly supported by the Board of Directors of Grotte di Castellana Srl. The Salento Finibus Terrae stop, organized for thirteen years by the passion and determination of renowned director Romeo Conte, at the Castellana underground site enchanted over two hundred guests on July 22nd. They attended the screening of the short films in competition on a giant screen, after which director Giuseppe Marco Albano was awarded the environmental prize for his entertaining yet realistic “Thriller.” From 8:00 p.m., the feature film “Ameluk” was also screened, enhanced by the presence of director Mimmo Mancini and several of the cast members, including Tiziana Schiavarelli, Dante Marmone, and Cosimo Cinieri. Cosimo Cinieri, the popular Italian actor, playwright, and director, moved the audience by recounting his meeting with Franco Anelli way back in 1958; a vivid memory of the kindness and gentleness of a man who was able to convey his love for the caves he discovered in such an extraordinary way. The evening concluded with interviews and photos with the actors and with director Romeo Conte's promise to make the Castellana Caves the heart of the event, with an even richer and more extensive program starting next year.
