The Granteatrino company brings one of the Brothers Grimm's most famous fairy tales to the stage, using its distinctive style, combining the classic story with the playfulness of puppets and the unmistakable style of illustrator Nicoletta Costa. The puppets and sets reproduce the settings and characters she designed.
The result is very positive, as attested by the many performances that the company continues to perform throughout Italy.
The show alternates magical and fantastical atmospheres with scenes of pure entertainment and, through narration, addresses themes of great symbolic value such as the fear of abandonment and loneliness.
These emotions will transform the story's protagonists into a wonderful opportunity for understanding and growth: the two children will find the courage to face great difficulties. The tale highlights some childhood fears, including that of being devoured; but the ending is liberating thanks to the victory over the most threatening enemy: the wicked witch.
The performance alternates large animated puppets, made unique by their colors, soft and colorful shapes, with marionettes.
The genre combines the characteristics and functions of the classic fairy tale and the puppet gags that arise from unexpected and amusing situations.
