Last weekend for Winter Caves 2018, the calendar of events promoted by the Castellana Caves srl, under the patronage of the Municipality of Castellana Grotte, in collaboration with Hell in the Cave and World Dance Movement, as part of the Crossing Arts project.
A month of events, excursions, shows, and initiatives 70 meters underground (and beyond) featuring three concerts in the Grave of the Castellana Grotte caves (Raphael Gualazzi, PFM, and The Harlem Voices featuring Eric B. Turner) and other events at the Franco Anelli Speleological Museum and other venues in the town of Castellana Grotte.
Hell in the Cave – verses dancing in the dark air, the re-enactment of Dante's Inferno at 70 metres depth, returns to the stage at 21pm in the Grave Saturday January 12 2019 Featuring the actors, dancers, and acrobats of the world's largest underground aerial show, they will bring the stalactites and stalagmites of the Castellana Caves to life in Puglia's only permanent show. Sunday January 13 2019, at the Anelli Museum in the Castellana caves, starting at 18,30 pm, show “Dance of Verses” Featuring Giusy Frallonardo (narrator), Grazia Salvatori (piano and composer), Titti Dell'Orco (flute), Nicola Puntillo (clarinets), Rita Giannuzzi (dancer), and Domenico Linsalata (dancer). Free admission.
FREE VISITS FOR CASTELLANESI ONLY
Furthermore, as per tradition, on Saturday, January 12, 2019, on the occasion of the patronal feast of Castellana Grotte and the celebrations in honor of Maria Santissima della Vetrana, a free visit to the Castellana Caves will be available for Castellana residents only.
Visiting times for the entire itinerary up to the White Grotto: 10, 11, and 12.
Partial itinerary visiting times: 13 pm.
WHEN TO VISIT THE CASTELLANA CAVES?
Throughout the month of January, visits to the Castellana Caves will always be possible during the two morning times of 10 am and 12 pm. Only the complete itinerary up to the White Cave is planned.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Wednesday January 23 2019 The year of celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the discovery of the Castellana Caves, opened last January by a visit from the President of the Republic, the Hon. Sergio Mattarella, has come to a close.
A double date is scheduled. At 11 hours in the Grave of the Castellana caves Holy Mass and celebratory descent from the mouth of the Grave to revive the 1938 feat of Franco Anelli). 18 hours A public conference will be held in the Hall of Ceremonies of the Municipality of Castellana Grotte, with speeches by institutions and the Board of Directors of Grotte di Castellana srl.
