CASTELLANA CAVES BETWEEN AGTI AND MULTIMEDIA
Today at the “Franco Anelli” Museum two exceptional activities with the course for tourist cave guides and the inauguration of the 3D multimedia room
Castellana Grotte, December 9, 2015 – The “IV Course for Tourist Cave Guides,” organized by the Italian Tourist Cave Association (AGTI) in collaboration with Grotte di Castellana Srl, begins this afternoon. It will be held until December 11 at the “Franco Anelli” Speleological Museum.
The course aims to explore various topics related to the underground world and its use, useful for both tourist cave guides and cave managers. The three-day program is varied, with lectures, plenary discussions, and practical lessons in the cave.
Aimed at managers and guides of AGTI-associated and non-AGTI-affiliated caves, the course will be enriched by visits to two tourist caves, giving concrete form to the concepts explained in the classroom through hands-on experience and seeing the most significant examples of karst formations.
Speakers at the course will include Mario Parise, a CNR geologist; Professor Luisa Sabato, Professor of Geology at the Department of Earth and Geoenvironmental Sciences at the University of Bari "A. Moro"; Massimo Max Goldoni, of the Italian Speleological Society; Felice Larocca, an archaeologist at the "E. De Medici" Regional Speleological Center; Giampietro Marchesi, former president of the SSI; Salvatore Inguscio, a biospeleologist; Paolo Forti, a professor at the University of Bologna; and Vittorio Verole Bozzello, honorary president of the AGTI.
Also this afternoon, during the course, the multimedia room "The Epic Traveler's Workshops" will be inaugurated. This permanent installation located in the "Franco Anelli" Speleological Museum will use 3D computer technology to offer a sensory journey through an immersive reality, offering the opportunity to immerse yourself in the caves. This will act as a link between the underground, cave visits, and the museum's primarily scientific spaces, enhancing the range of activities available to tourists.
The "Epic Traveler's Workshops" project is made possible thanks to the "La Murgia dei Trulli: dal mare alla Valle d'Itria" (The Murgia of the Trulli: from the sea to the Itria Valley) Cultural Environmental System (SAC), of which the Municipality of Castellana Grotte is a member. This mysterious and fascinating installation can be visited daily during the opening hours of the "Franco Anelli" Museum, which is currently open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
