Le Castellana Caves (Ba) will be officially reopened to the public Friday 26 June. After more than three months of closure, the karst site, one of the main tourist attractions in Puglia, is ready to welcome visitors back in safety and to reveal caves that are more splendid than before, regenerated by the constant darkness and silence of the closure period.
The reopening date has finally been made official, after a long period of planning and interventions by the Castellana Caves srl To offer tourists a safe yet enjoyable visit. Limited entry, temperature checks for each visitor, mask wearing, hand sanitizing, and maintaining social distancing are the general requirements to follow.
Tourists will be accompanied along the tour route as always by expert cave guides, but to encourage interpersonal distancing and make the visit even more satisfying, the application will also be available soon. “Castellana Caves – Guide in Italian, English, and LIS”, an implementation of the already active guide in Italian Sign Language presented last February at Bit Milan, which can be used offline on your mobile device by following the instructions installed along the itinerary and contains audio in Italian, English and videos in LIS.
The caves will be open daily at the following times: full tours (an approximately 3-kilometer itinerary leading to the White Cave, lasting 100 minutes) in Italian at 9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 14:00 pm, 15:00 pm, 16:00 pm, and 17:00 pm; full tours in English at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 15:00 pm, and 17:00 pm; and partial tours (an approximately 1-kilometer itinerary lasting 50 minutes) in Italian at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 13:00 pm, 14:30 pm, 15:30 pm, and 18:00 pm. Tours can also be booked in German and French.
You must arrive at the ticket office at least 30 minutes before the tour start time and bring a self-certification form, which can be downloaded from the Castellana Caves website.
