A week full of events has just begun for the Castellana Caves (Ba), who are preparing to welcome and surprise tourists in the days around Ferragosto, the most intense ones of the summer, after having thrilled the spectators of Rai1 last Saturday 8 August in the episode dedicated to Puglia of the television programme Green Roots Line.
Over 2 million viewers (16,5% share) admired, among other Apulian excellences, the beauty of the Castellana karst site in the television program hosted by Federico Quaranta on the first Rai channel (on demand on RaiPlay) to discover its history and curiosities thanks to the host's story, accompanied on his underground journey by the guide of the Castellana Caves, Simonetta Nitti.
In addition to the visits scheduled for the month of August (complete visit, itinerary of about 3 kilometers that leads to the White Cave and lasting 100 minutes, in Italian at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00; complete visit in English at 10:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 17:00; partial visit, itinerary of about 1 kilometer to be covered in 50 minutes, in Italian at 10:30, 11:30, 13:00, 14:30, 15:30 and 17:30), the current week promises to be full of events for the tourist site managed by the Castellana Caves srlThe specials are in high demand. Speleonight, cave tours led by speleologists from the Puglia Grotte Group, a nighttime experience that reveals a different side of the caves, for which a series of off-calendar appointments have been scheduled to accommodate the many reservations. There have also been many requests for the double appointment, this evening and Wednesday, with “A Night with Sirius”, to observe the sky from the Astronomical Observatory, while the scheduled reruns of Hell in the Cave, a performance of Dante's Inferno in the Grave cave, which will be staged this week on Thursday 13th and Sunday 16th August.
Tickets for guided tours of the Castellana Caves can be purchased online through TicketOne or from authorized retailers up to 30 minutes before the tour time, or directly at the Castellana Caves ticket office.
