CASTELLANA CAVES: OFFICIAL PRESENTATION OF THE NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Castellana Grotte, December 12, 2017 – "We are ready to bring about real change, and we will do so with patience, perseverance, and passion, aiming to further increase tourism in our karst site," said Victor Casulli, the new President of Grotte di Castellana srl, as he introduced himself to the press and company employees and collaborators in his first public appearance. This marks the beginning of the "new era" of the Castellana Caves—"Wonder of Puglia," the region's first paid tourist attraction.
This morning, at the "Franco Anelli" Speleological Museum, the new Board of Directors of the Castellana Caves management company, chaired by Victor Casulli, along with Vice President Francesco Manghisi and Councilor Maria Lacasella, were officially introduced to the city. Also present at the press conference was the Mayor of Castellana Grotte, Francesco De Ruvo, who opened his remarks by thanking the previous Board of Directors and renewing his best wishes to the new administrators, so that they can achieve even greater success.
The floor was then given to President Victor Casulli, who spoke of "great emotion and internal excitement, given the enormous responsibility that awaits us." He then symbolically embraced all the company staff, assuring them of "great attention and a listening ear, in the spirit of open and transparent administration."
Vice President Francesco Manghisi then spoke, explaining: "I am confident that this new Board of Directors, with the right spirit of collaboration, will achieve excellent results. I will be fully committed to ensuring that our beloved Grotte achieves ever greater goals."
Finally, Councilor Maria Lacasella: "I am confident that, together with my colleagues, all the employees, and all the internal and external collaborators of Società Grotte di Castellana srl, we will deliver a concrete approach, assuming all the administrative, decision-making, and action responsibilities entrusted to us. There is much to do, and we are ready. Best wishes to all of us for a peaceful, useful, efficient, and productive work."
President Casulli took the opportunity to provide some previews of upcoming events at the Castellana Caves: from the Christmas program to the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the discovery of the Castellana Caves, which falls on January 23rd. A full year of commemorative events is planned, not only artistic and cultural, but also, and above all, institutional, speleological, and scientific. For the Christmas program, which is still being finalized, several events have been anticipated: the traditional Mass in the Cave on December 23rd, with an aerial descent of the Child Jesus led by a speleologist, and three "Special Editions" of the "Hell in the Cave" show, the largest underground air show in the world inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy (December 26th, 28th, and 30th). The detailed program of the Christmas program will be announced in the coming days.
