CASTELLANA CAVES: SUMMER 2017 EVENTS
Castellana Grotte, July 25, 2017 – Music, art, natural beauty, and science. The Castellana Caves have all the ingredients for a summer of excitement. From Gigi D'Alessio's concert to "Hell in the Cave," the world's largest underground air show, the "Speleonight" special immersive tours, and the "A Night with Sirius" events.
The Castellana Caves are not only a karst site recognized as a "Wonder of Puglia," but also a hub of cultural and artistic events and offerings that attract 400 visitors year-round.
On August 9th, at 9:00 PM, thanks to a collaboration between the Grotte di Castellana company and songwriter Sergio Rubino, Gigi D'Alessio will bring his live tour to the Grotte Park. During the concert, D'Alessio will perform songs from his new album, released on his 50th birthday—from the Sanremo single "La Prima Stella" to the latest single, "T'innamori e poi"—and will retrace his 25-year career with his audience, featuring songs and hits that have touched entire generations: "Non Dirgli Mai," "Il Cammino dell'età," "Quanti Amori," and many more.
To attend Gigi D'Alessio's concert, you can treat yourself to a visit to the Castellana Caves, with their karst concretions, shaped by nature over 90 million years. Ticket holders will receive free admission to the Italian singer-songwriter's live show.
Throughout the summer also “Hell in the Cave – Dancing verses in the dark planeDante's Inferno, seen from the center of the earth, 70 meters below the surface. A full schedule of performances is scheduled for August: the 5th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 19th, 24th, and 26th. The show starts at 10:00 PM. Nature lovers should try the fascinating "Speleonight," a special dark-light visit to the Castellana Caves, allowing you to explore the karst site like true explorers. Numerous dates are scheduled for August: August 3, 8, 11, 16, 20, 22, 27, and 31. Tours begin at 9:30 PM.
In the Grotte Park, eyes will also be focused on the starry sky this summer 2017, thanks to the Astronomical Observatory, which is organizing "A Night with Sirius" throughout the month of August. On August 2, 4, 10, 18, 24, and 29, guided by Professor Nicola Rizzi, participants will be able to discover the constellations from a station equipped with two telescopes and a projector.
