NATIONAL SPELEOLOGY DAY AT THE CASTELLANA CAVES
On October 1st and 2nd, many initiatives by the Puglia Grotte Group aimed at professionals and enthusiasts, including educational and informative meetings and demonstration activities in the cave.
Castellana Grotte, September 28, 2016 The Castellana Caves will be the protagonists of the National Speleology Day, an event organized by the Italian Speleological Society, the Italian Alpine Club, and the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps with the support of AGTI, the Italian Tourist Caves Association. The event will take place on October 1st and 2nd at the Castellana karst site.
In fact, the Puglia Grotte Group, in collaboration with the Castellana Caves (an entity associated with the AGTI), has planned, over the two days, demonstrations of particular speleological progression techniques alternating with educational and informative moments on the topics of karst, life in caves and speleology. The meeting is aimed at professionals and anyone who wants to learn about and approach the world of speleology, guided by experts.
Guided tours of the Franco Anelli Museum are also available, which will remain open until 10:30 PM on Saturday, October 1st, and a 3D virtual tour of the Castellana Caves is available through the multimedia box located in the Exhibition Hall. The goal of the GPG and the entire initiative is to raise awareness about the protection and preservation of the environment; these are essential issues of primary importance for the health of the Earth and its inhabitants.
