10th Russian Art Festival “Summer Garden of the Arts” on May 18th at 8:30 pm in the Castellana Caves
For the third year the Castellana Caves are pleased to host the evocative Festival of Russian Art, now in its tenth edition and organised by CESVIR (Italian-Russian Center for Economics and Development) of Bari, chaired by Dr. Rocky Malatesta, and sponsored by the European Union, the Puglia Region, Pugliapromozione, Teatro Pubblico Pugliese and the Moscow Patriarchate of Bari.
May 18th at 8:30 pm, therefore, the suggestive Grave, the first cave of the Castellana Caves, will be the setting for the extraordinary wind orchestra coming from theTchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory Academic Institute of Music, one of the oldest schools in Russia, founded in 1891, directed by the teacher of the School Valery Vyacheslavovich Yurkovets.

Vladimir Petrovich Demidov, Director of the Academic Institute of Music at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, Professor Emeritus of the Russian Federation
The Academic Musical Institute is one of the oldest schools in Russia, founded in 1891. Thanks to its close artistic collaboration with the Moscow State Conservatory, the Institute's teaching staff is among the finest in the country. The founder and first director of the Institute was Valentina Yurievna Zograf-Plaksina (1866–1930), a 25-year-old graduate of the Moscow Conservatory's Pedagogical Faculty and a student of V. I. Safonov and S. I. Taneyev.
The Institute's well-deserved fame was brought to it by its students and graduates, who are famous musicians, singers, conductors, composers and music critics, including T. Sinyavskaya, A. Eshpay, V. Tretyakov, A. Volodos', V. Yurovsky.
The Institute is currently considered one of the largest educational centers in the Russian Federation. It teaches all musical instruments for the symphony orchestra, singing, and choral conducting.
In 2016, the Institute celebrates its 125th anniversary. As part of the celebrations, the large-scale festival "125 Years of the Merzlyakovskoye School" will take place in the fall of 2016.
WIND ORCHESTRA OF THE ACADEMIC INSTITUTE OF MUSIC
AT THE TCHAIKOVSKY MOSCOW STATE CONSERVATORY
Wind Orchestra of the Academic Institute of Music at the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory It is a student orchestra. The orchestra has been directed at various times by Mikhail Riushin, Nikolay Balandin, Boris Slabakov, Leonid Speshilov, and Vyacheslav Gruy. The band is currently conducted by the school's teacher. Valery Vyacheslavovich Yurkovets.
The orchestra's repertoire includes works by Russian and international composers, in original arrangements. Each year, the band performs on various stages across Russia.
Participation in the orchestra allows graduates of the wind instrument faculty to find employment and successfully perform in the best orchestras in Russia and abroad.
