On the occasion of the event “Respect for the Truth”, organized by the Municipality of Castellana Grotte, Saturday November 10 21 hours in the Grave of Castellana caves the theatrical performance is scheduled “The Fisherman Mayor” with Ettore Bassi.
Produced by Panart and based on the book of the same name by Dario Vassallo with texts by Edoardo Erba and directed by Enrico Maria Lamanna, the show aims to tell and remember the story of an ordinary hero, Angelo Vassallo, the fisherman mayor precisely.
An ordinary yet extraordinary man in a sick yet extraordinary region like Campania, Angelo Vassallo is a man who sacrificed his life to govern, defend, and improve his land and its people. "The Fisherman Mayor" recounts the work of a simple, honest, and far-sighted man, from the beginning of his political career, through the extraordinary successes achieved on the ground in Cilento for the Common Good, including the Mediterranean Diet initiative, which, thanks in part to his efforts, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site, until its tragic end.
On the evening of September 5, 2010, Angelo Vassallo, mayor of Pollica, was brutally murdered while driving home by one or more assassins, still unknown to this day. More than 500 people, including mayors, local administrators, and ordinary citizens, marched on February 10, 2018, to oppose the closure of the investigation into his murder.

RESPECT FOR THE TRUTH – THE DAY'S PROGRAM
The performance is part of a series of events on Saturday, November 10, entitled "Respect for the Truth," which will examine the search for truth from a journalistic, forensic, and human perspective. The event is part of a series of meetings promoted by the Castellana Grotte City Council Presidency, led by City Council President Emanuele Caputo, to bridge the gap between institutions and citizens. A double event is scheduled, open to students from the ITT Dell'Erba in the morning and open to the public at 6:00 p.m. in the ceremonial hall of Castellana Grotte's town hall. The event will feature City Council President Emanuele Caputo, Castellana Grotte Mayor Francesco De Ruvo, and Culture Councilor Vanni Sansonetti. Speakers will include journalist Annamaria Minunno, director of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Bari, Francesco Introna, and Dario Vassallo, author of the book "The Fisherman Mayor."
