Castellana Grotte, 27 March 2015 – After the success of the first edition, the event returns to the Castellana Grotte
Castellana “Episodes”, the series of cultural meetings organized by “Il libro possibile” in collaboration
with Grotte di Castellana Srl. Three literary events will take place in the splendid
cornice of the Grave, the entrance cave of the Castellana hypogeum site, about seventy metres away
depth; it will start with Umberto Galimberti on May 9th and continue with Massimo Cacciari on
June 4th and conclude on June 19th with the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Iranian Shirin Ebadi.
The second edition of “Episodes” will have a single common thread and will focus on the main themes
addressed every day by the media and Italian and international politics. Women's rights,
building peace and coexistence, loneliness in the age of social networks. These are some
of the ideas from which the reflection and discussion will start together with the guests and the public of the
Castellana Caves.

Europe risks becoming the site of a true clash of civilizations. The massive influxes
migrants and coexistence within multi- and inter-cultural societies represent the challenge
main European policies with respect to the future. Faced with this challenge, which presents itself
increasingly dramatic and conflictual, Italy, also due to its geographical position on the front line
in welcoming, shows, more than other European countries, great difficulty. This difficulty seems
coincide with the inability of its political class to produce an attitude and responses that
are effective, constructive and with a long-term perspective. Aware that when
the story becomes tragic, it is very difficult to reason, but we feel it is necessary to try to do so
turning one's gaze to the very dynamics of Italian political life and its way of developing
