From March 31st to April 3rd 2022 the Castellana Caves (Ba) will participate in BITU.S – International School Tourism and Teaching Exchange, an event scheduled at the Ex Real Polverificio Borbonico of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, during which the karst site will be able to promote its offerings dedicated to schools, which represent a significant portion of its tourist users.
After two years of school and educational trips, the Castellana Caves are once again welcoming schools in 2022, making BITU.S an opportunity to reconnect with this world. During the four-day event, which will include a program of activities for students of all ages and grades, as well as the opportunity to meet and network with teachers and administrators, the Castellana Caves will have the opportunity to showcase their educational offerings at their stand alongside traditional guided tours: workshops designed for students of all levels, offering hands-on exploration of geological, biological, chemical, and physical phenomena through interactive and multisensory methods, and, of course, Hell in the Cave, an opportunity for students to engage in a new experience with a literary text, explore the splendid language of Dante Alighieri, and experience firsthand the emotions of the Inferno's characters. The actors starring in the free performance of the first canticle of the Divine Comedy in the Castellana Caves will perform on Saturday, April 2nd, offering a small preview of the show set in the Grave cave. At the stand set up inside the former Royal Bourbon Powder Factory, visitors can also immerse themselves in a 3D experience, giving a sneak peek of the visit to the karst site.
BITU.S is an event promoted and supported by the General Directorate for Cultural Policies and Tourism of the Campania Region and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, conceived and organized by Tappeto Volante di Domenico Maria Corrado, with the contribution of Idee in azione and the scientific coordination of BTO Educational and CoopCulture.
