After a preview from Friday, September 1st to Wednesday, September 6th, the sports festival has resumed in Largo Porta Grande in Castellana Grotte. The aim is to highlight the activities of local sports and dance associations. This year, the focus will also be on raising awareness about combating violence against women.
After the preview, scheduled from Friday 1st to Wednesday 6th September, it has entered into full swing, and will take place until Friday, September 15, 2023, in Largo Porta Grande in Castellana Grotte, the second part of the second edition of the Castellana Sports Festival, organized by Municipality of Castellana Grotte e Castellana Caves srl, as part of the activities of the Sports Council and as part of the Piazze d'Estate summer events calendar.
Largo Porta Grande thus returns to the spotlight of Piazze d'Estate with a true sports village. Compared to last year, it will be open more days, with a more intense program, and its main goal is to highlight the activities of Castellana Grotte's sports and dance associations and showcase a movement that is the true excellence of the area.

Until Friday 15 September, Castellana Sport Festival, an event financed with the contribution of the Puglia Region - Department of Sport for All - Year 2023, will pursue the objectives of promoting the city's sports movement, raising awareness on the issue of combating violence against women by joining the regional campaign Train Against Violence, enhancing the tourist context and historical-cultural values with guided excursions to the street art works of the Libervìa project, and promoting the values of inclusion through specific activities dedicated to people with disabilities and Paralympic sports. With this in mind, Friday 15 September 2023, to tell his experience, he will be present at the Castellana Sport Festival Vittoria Bianco, a swimmer from Puglia, won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics..
Basket Castellana (from 17pm to 21pm), Calciomania Castellana (from 17pm to 21pm) and Grotte Volley Castellana (from 17pm to 21pm) liven up the play areas for basketball, football and volleyball. Also available and free is afitness area and artistic gymnastics which until yesterday saw the performances of Stefania Perta's Gym Rebels.
The activities of the dance schools were characterised by the presence of Passito Bailante by Liana Sonnante (last September 10th) and in the next few days will see the performance of Artinscena by Annalisa Bellini (September 14th and 15th).
Among the events that have already taken place or will take place, the concert of Area 404, Vito Luisi Award 2023 contest for emerging bands, the show performances promoted by the Enduro Squad Southern Italy Trial and Bike Trial Show, the appointment with the association The Dream Coach “Football is also a question of (moral) rigor” (15 September, starting at 19pm) and the second conference organised by Kinesport with physiotherapist and kinesiologist Rocky Barbaro on the prevention and treatment of sports injuries.
Present at the Castellana Sport Festival the exhibition stands of 15 city sports and dance associations, each of which is ready to present its offering for the 2023/2024 season. All events are free. Use of the play areas is free, subject to online reservation and availability.
