The 2014 Chicche d'estate – sunset aperitifs featuring art, theater, and music summer festival is underway. This program of events, sponsored by the Department of Entertainment of the Municipality of Castellana Grotte, is conceived and organized by the restaurant “Il Casalicchio” in collaboration with the cultural associations “Cultura in Tandem” and Fuoriluogo for the “Meetings with the Author” section.
The Sunset Aperitif and Show formula was born from the desire to recreate the typical atmosphere of the traditional Artists' Cafés in one of the most charming corners of the historic center of Castellana Grotte, a way to enjoy art, culture, and entertainment over a delicious aperitif, far from the noisy evening nightlife.
Fifteen events will liven up the outdoor spaces of the "Il Casalicchio" restaurant at sunset. The artistic lineup offers something for everyone, regardless of gender or age. They range from author talks featuring Gabriella Genisi, Alessio Viola, Nicolò Carmineo, and Lino De Venuto, to cabaret and musical performances of various genres, and, for the more discerning, theater and opera performances.

Our handwriting is like the sea: we only see the surface, but it contains a profound and fascinating universe, capable of surrounding us as soon as we "put on" the lens of a more critical observation. Monica Bardi, expert graphologist and author of the book "Graphology for Everyone," will provide useful tips for better understanding ourselves and others through the use of graphological techniques. She will analyze texts written by those present at the meeting and by others, teaching us how to interpret them simply to profile and define personalities.

For "Chicche d'estate 2014," she offers a predominantly Puccini repertoire, while also interpreting works such as Lucio Dalla's "Caruso" and Edith Piaf's "La vie en rose."

How much plastic can our bodies tolerate? How much mercury is in the fish we eat? Is the Adriatic a dumping ground for TNT? Why are jellyfish and alien algae invading our seas? Few know the answers to these questions; there's no awareness of what's happening in the sea today, how and why the Mediterranean and the oceans are rapidly changing before our unwitting eyes. This is where three reports by Carnimeo come from, navigating beyond conventional routes through a sea of plastic, a sea of mercury, and a sea of TNT: a vast landfill, a snapshot and consequence of the way we've chosen to live. TRIBERGABUTO pays tribute to Giorgio Gaber, an artist who has left his mark on the cultural, political, artistic, musical, poetic, and theatrical life of our country. Tribergabuto's work has been to deconstruct and recompose each of Mr. G's songs to bring them back to the band's sound, leaving the extrinsic meaning and poetic art of each individual song unchanged. From a purely musical point of view, the infinite musical genres that distinguish Giorgio Gaber's repertoire are proposed again: from rock 'n' roll to swing, from pop to rock, from tango to waltz, from western ballad to blues. During these continuous Pindaric leaps between very different genres, we experience an excursus of acoustic and electronic sounds that blend together in a mix as amalgamated as ever.

Paola Arnesano, winner of the 2009 Italian Jazz Awards, is renowned for her versatile vocals, ranging from jazz to bossa nova and ethnic music, expressing passion and sensuality, suffering and pain. She will be accompanied by accordionist Vince Abbracciante, a young, talented musician with extraordinary technique and sensitivity, essential qualities for an instrument that is difficult to approach and impossible to play without enthusiasm.

PUGLIFICATION is the story of a comical—and terrifying—"reverse redemption." Alighiero, an actor and theater director of Apulian origins who emigrated to Rome, finds himself forced to return to his hometown to rediscover his roots: and, above all, to understand them. Almost against his will.
Hers is a journey of discovery within her own home, through the unseen gaze of someone seeing for the second time. Her Puglia is also unseen: a grotesque and surreal epicenter, a habitat of barbarity but also of sweetness and warmth—a friendly, visceral, and merciless place, as only motherhood can be.

In Portuguese, "mareiro" is an adjective that indicates origin and is especially used for winds that "come or blow from the sea." In a broader sense, it means "propitious, favorable for navigation." With our songs, our sounds, and the characters we evoke through our words, we want to be the good wind that fills the sails, but also the breeze that fills the lungs of those who remain on the dock. The wind of good omens.
Naples is the city that gave birth to Isabella Mangani, Lisbon is the gentle Naples that hosted her and still welcomes her with love and a light beyond words. They seem to have their backs to each other, one facing a great, cold ocean, the other the warm sea further east. It is with that warmth that the siren Partenope embraces the dark-haired princess of the Tagus and tells her story, with love.
