Katia Ricciarelli, Antonella Ruggiero, Samuel from Subsonica, Marina Rei, and Cristiano Godano are coming. Castellana Grotte will be filled with entertainment and conviviality for the duration of Summer Squares 2023, the summer events calendar organized and promoted by the Municipality of Castellana Grotte and Grotte di Castellana srl.
Yet another event in Castellana Grotte's first edition of Festivarts, the arts festival that debuted in early August in Piazza Nicola e Costa. The evenings will be hosted by the creator of the format and mayor of Castellana Grotte, Domi Ciliberti, with artistic direction by Pino Savino. After Diego Fusaro and Francesco Paolantoni, it will be the turn of Katia Ricciarelli, Sunday, August 13, the artist who has sung in the world's most prestigious theaters, will speak in Castellana Grotte about bel canto, theater, cinema, art, culture, politics, the environment, sports, and much more. She will be accompanied by the guitar of maestro Espedito de Marino, who has accompanied her on tour throughout Italy for 13 years.
The final Festivarts conversation will be held on August 28th with Ornella Muti.
Wednesday August 16, at 21.00 pm in Piazza Garibaldi, it will be the turn of Antonella Ruggiero, one of the most fascinating and versatile voices on the Italian music scene, who, thanks to her vocal talent and charismatic presence, has won over audiences of all ages throughout her long career, spanning 25 years of change and innovation. In "Concerto Versatile" she will perform her greatest hits, sacred music, world music, and songs by some famous Italian singer-songwriters, revisited and reinterpreted.
From Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 August, a tribute to the historical and winemaking tradition of Castellana Grotte, thanks also to the contribution of the Puglia Region – Department of Agriculture: Borgo RosatoPiazze d'Estate moves to the historic center, in Largo San Leone Magno, for an event that combines food and wine, wineries, and culture.

Our city's distinctive features will be showcased at the September festivals, such as the Chicken and Rabbit festival and the Impanata festival. Borgo Rosato also highlights the excellence achieved by Castellana Grotte's wineries, which are receiving national and international recognition. With Piazze d'Estate 2023, we are taking a comprehensive approach to promoting our city, seeking to integrate all aspects relevant to tourism. The goal is to further enhance our identity by combining culture, tourism, history, and food and wine. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are encouraged by the interest shown by the national media as well.
< Fabio Caputo, City Councilor for Events, Sports, and Youth Policies, we're kicking off the second half of the summer, which will delve into the history and traditions of our city with a celebration of rosé wine, as well as events celebrating the Monstrum Apuliae, the extremely rare case of female jurisdiction over a city from 1266 to 1810. This event will be told through a historical reenactment curated by the Grocà association, which will showcase the story of the abbesses. The event will also include a Pro Loco trail dedicated to the abbesses, enriched with 10 additional gates within the historic center. This will enhance and extend the existing trail and provide a clear and increasingly representative identity for the unique historical phenomenon that has developed in Castellana. "Borgo Rosato" is an event that seeks to connect the past and the future; it demonstrates that we are working diligently and effectively not only in organizing events but also in securing funding and resources. We have obtained the contribution of the Puglia Region – Department of Agriculture, which will allow us to better organize this edition and plan the next ones with foresight.
Along with the food and wine stations, "Borgo Rosato" also offers culture. During those days, there's a photography exhibition on local wine production curated by Pasquale Ladogana, medieval dances by the Associazione 1171 l'Origine, and guided tours of the historic center.
There's also plenty of music in Borgo Rosato thanks to the artistic direction of David Mazzetta. The DJ set scheduled is Samuel from Subsonica (August 17), Marina Rei in “Donna che parla in veloce” accompanied by guitarist and singer-songwriter Francesco Forni (18 August), Christian Godano guitar and vocals (19 August) in Largo San Leone Magno.
